Each figure with an inscribed motto in French on the base that reads as to the subject's action.

The "Motto Children" figures were introduced in 1775 by French sculptor Michel Victor Acier (1736 - 1799 ), who helped shape the Manufacture stylistic identity from 1764 and after Kaendler's death ( 1775) he bore sole responsibility for the artistic design of Meissen porcelain.
